Its All About Training, Training, Training...

Its been about 4 weeks since I've gone back to Aikido and I must say that its been GREAT!

As I go for the classes, all the movements and words in Japanese are slowly coming back to me. Best of all, the people that I'm training together with are just super. Of course, picking up where I left off 15years ago takes quite a bit of work. Its gonna take me the better part of the year before I even consider going for an upgrade in my belt colour... then again, I'll see how that goes and what the Sensei says about my progress a few months down the road....

Stepping up on my swimming and running as well. Gonna start a routine of morning runs and swims soon. That should free up my days and evenings....

Physically, its really demanding. But mentally, this is deeply satisfying. Woohoo!!

As They Say....No Pain, No Gain

New year, so a new start.

Started running again after a break of almost 6 months. As expected, legs were aching for the next few days after that. Complete recovery only came after 1 week.

Started my swimming again as well, again after a break of about 6 months. Stamina was definitely lacking and shoulder pain was also there. Body aches (again as expected) for the next few days and only recovered fully after about a week too.

Started my first Aikido class after more than 10 years away. Good news is I still remember how to roll forwards and backwards, walk on my knees and generally did pretty ok. Really feels good to be back. :-) Of course, body aches came the following day and took about 4 days to fully recover.

Have also started watching my diet. No supper, fruits for meals, lots of water etc.... Most recent recorded weight was around 81.5kg. Target weight in 6 months or less is 75kg. Should be quite attainable. :-)

Christmas was the time of giving, and CNY is the time of eating. Looks like the rest of the yesr for me is gonna be a time of aching.... Ouch!
